Apparently summer officially comes to an end soon here in Japan. Maybe it is time to start running again ? Certainly a good time to start thinking of turning that soft doughy stuff round my rift into hardened steel muscle.
Too late for the Tokyo Marathon next year. Oh what a shame. It was 17th August and it is now the 1st September.

Time is a runner.
As he ages his speed increases
and with such ease the moments fly by.
Until with the finish point in sight,
he breathes a sign of relief as he passes the line,
to ponder the steps that flown underfoot
My Reuters marathon will finally come to an end after a ten year course. One that has had its hill climbs and straights. The odd obstacle in the way. Yet never did I take a taxi or the easy route. 25th May is the last day. Very soon afterwards I start my next assignment.
So between now and end of May I should try to get fit. Will I be ready for the next Tokyo marathon ? I doubt it but I can at least dream

You are all truly ironmen. I could only find reasons not to run this morning and no reasons to run. I didnt even make it to the start line.
I woke at the right time sniffling with a cold, jet lagged after my trip to the UK. It looked bitterly cold and wet when I peaked out my bedroom window this morning. There is no way I am going to enjoy it, I thought.
My positive mental attitude went completly flat.
Besides all that I have a job interview tomorrow and I dont want to risk it by wearing myself out.
Well done everyone. I can only sit, sniffle and admire your determination.

I still have so much to prepare for. I am not talking about the running, it is far too late for that. My thoughts are over what to wear. What is a good colour ? What doesnt clash with the white marathon T-shirt and will still look fashionable from inside of an ambulance ?
It is going to be cold tomorrow so the marathon provided shirt will not be enough. Knowing my running technique, ie slow slow slow, I will be exposed to the elements for 6 or 7 hours. Do we have to display the number throughout the race ? Does that mean we cannot cover it up ? I did think about dressing up in a huge daruma costume but there are huge restrictions on costumes so as not to display the Tokyo residents who may be upset by the fun loving side of the marathon.
I had my question answered yesterday regarding the clothes transport. Apparently there is no need to run back to the start when you finish. You put your clothes in a bag provided by the organisers. This bag will then be sent over to the finish point where it will be waiting for you. In short, you have started so you have to finish in order to get your wallet back.
So what to wear for the marathon in order to stay warm, comfortable and avoid hyperthermia.

One of the reasons (excuses) why my training schedule went to pot was because I was spending a great deal of time studying for an exam.
The exam was the ISACA CISA – Certified information systems auditor. It lasted for 4 hours and was made up of 200 questions. A pass mark was 75.
Well all the study time and work paid off. My result came through with a passing grade. I can now apply to be a ISACA qualified system auditor.
This will be a great comfort when they shove me in the back of an ambulance during the marathon.
