back to work

13 11 2006

Hey… my first post in quite a while.  Unfortunatly, i didnt make any progress training in the month of October so I decided to be a bit more agressive this month.

I ran 32k on Saturday, 16 in the morning (yes in the rain) and then 16 in the evening and I it was pretty difficult in the evening.  I know its not the same as runing continuously but im hoping to ease my body & psyche into the idea of the full 42k.

Here is the breakdown of my training for Nov thus far:

3 Nov – 20k with Andy 1hr 55min

8 Nov - squats/lunges then 12k 1hr 15min

11 Nov – 16k in the am 1hr 30min

11 Nov – 16k in the pm 1hr 32min

TokyoYMCA Charity run

3 10 2006

We had the charity run on Sat 30 September.  The ‘Beefcake Bandits’ team finished an imppressive 10th at 37 min total for a team of 6 runners.  The appropriatly named ‘Running on Empty’ team finished 74th at 47 total min.  Was a good time in general, even though I was shut out again on the raffle.  Im O-fer about 200, competing in raffles during my lifetime. btw- there were 88 teams participating in the race

5k – 24 min

9 09 2006

last night just to get an idea of speed for 5k.. i pretty much ran flat out and finished at 24 min. took a rest for 3 or 4 min then headed out for another 10k. 24.min. 30.min. 33.min total time (not counting the break) 87 min for 15k. gonna try another 20k run this week & hope it goes better than the last one!

borrowed a book from Mr Lee Jewett titled ‘The Triathletes Training Bible’ thats pretty interesting. Im primarily looking at the running section that has some good info on biomechanics & how to run ‘effeciently’ wich is needed for long distance.

20K

1 09 2006

Last night after 15k without major incindent or stress I decided to go one more lap around the palace.  The one extra lap was pretty tough & I had to stop for a few min about half way around.  I also learned its much harder start running again after stopping for a few min (at least for me).  total time was 2 hr 15 min

Welcome aboard Leavey-san…we are looking forward to seeing you zip around palace!!

Andy & I ran a steady, unspectacular 15 k run last night: lap 1 = 30min, lap 2 = 30 min, lap 3 = 32, for total of 92 min.  It was hot & humid, and started raining during the third lap, so we were quite proud to make the entire 15k.

another 10k

14 08 2006

ran 10k with Andy on friday evening… first lap around the palace was a beauty at 23 min, but the second was considerably slower at 34 min (im not convinced this was correct time).  either way my goal is a 15k run by the end of this week to just raise the bar a bit…
