My Foot !!!
21 03 2009Well, with the 2009 Tokyo Marathon just around the corner, I just happened to walk into the new Asics store in Harajuku to have a look around and decided to grab a new pair of their Gel running shoes … the Gel Kayano 15.
The place was fairly quiet and the vendor offered to do one of those detailed computerized profiles of my feet … so I said why not? Well, the scan and the results were quite impressive, and for all serious runners (no, I’m not one of them!), I definitely recommend that you do it. Needless to say, make sure you get the vendors to walk you through each aspect of the results.
Below is the report for my feet (click on image to enlarge). All in all, a fairly good pair, no weird anomalies except for one big toe which apparently decides to lean a bit !

That’s not just a profile but a complete ID of your feet!…
I heard that in Japan you can buy a customized shoes for your feet. Is it possible to buy a customized shoes showing this profile doc to Asics?!
Regards
Hi Valter,
The Asics store conducts the scan/profile on-site and based on the profile, they recommend the ideal shoe size for your feet. Note that beyond the basic size, they are one of the few athletic shoe manufacturers that now offer shoes in multiple “widths” … just like formal/business shoes … ex. E, EE, EEE.
The the case of the shoe which I purchased, the Gel Kayano 15, tghey actually have three variations (basic, W, SW) which translate to widths (basic, EE, EEEE).
As far as “customized” shoes … I assume athletic … I am not aware of any companies, but I would certainly expect someone out there to be doing it … even Asics, but at a significant premium.
Cheers.
