Hi,Paul
Thank you for your comment on my blog:)
I guess I may have seen you , because the time you passed the finish line is almost same as mine, and ocassionally I run around imperial Palace!
I am just praying to be able to run on 2008.

Good luck on the application for 2008. If you see us running around the Palace ( any of the bunch in the photos below ) please say hello !

Hello!
I’ve applied and am waiting in anticipation…
First time for me and having set a target of sub-four-hour (assuming I can run), I really would like to know how much the start interferes with pace. I am reckoning on about 11km/hour. What can be done/do I need to consider to maintain that throughout.
Many thanks!
Laney
Hello Laney,
Regarding the start and pace :
If you put an ‘expected time’ of around 4 hours on your application, you will probably be ‘placed’ about half way in the pack at the start line. Because there are so many entrants though, that could still mean more than 10,000 people in front of you ! For perspective, when I ran last year, it took about 15 mins to reach the start line after the official starting gun fired. This 15 minutes is included in your time. During that time, you could weave through the traffic though – although it is busy it is not so tight that you would be actually held up, in my opinion.
Good luck in the draw and in your preperation !
ps If you run anywhere near the Imperial Palace let us know.

I just got my email – I’m in for the 2008 10k! I’m injured and can’t run until January, but if I have to crawl across that finish line [a real possibility], I’m going to do it. I think.

Congratulations ! The 10Km is a good distance. Not least because :
- you get to experience the whole atmosphere and fun at the beginning of the race with all 30,000 competitors from the 10Km and full marathon
- The first 10Km is gently downhill
- The finish is in town, not Odaiba…
- You can stop after 10Km !
