So rather than go back and create all the memorable runs to date I’ve put in the few that seem to have been significant and based on my watch, since I started this journey on 29 May I have travelled 326km, burnt 44420 calories and taken 53:17 minutes to do it. Which is fairly appallingly slow.

Hey, the head cold is gone. I think I sweeted it out of the system. So feeling motivated, after another day of hammering at the building site I donned a new Tshirt (and damp shorts – argh) and took to the treadmill again.
Another short run at 10.10km on a slop set to 3 (whatever that means) however on HBO there was a good movie with Jack Nicholas. I couldn’t be bothered to keep running and once I hopped off the Indian guy changed channles so I did not see the end.
Oh, and today marks the end of the 11 days of religious ceremony which culminate in a huge amount of noise where the locals take plaster images of one of their gods and dissolve them in the sea. On one of the TV channels they had a local greenie on whom was complaining that as the plaster and paints dissolved they were polluting the sea and killing the fish.

I’m in Mumbai on work staying at the Taj President, yesterday I checked out the gym which has a couple of good running machines and a CRT telivision with MTV. Suffering from a sore back (the chairs in the office are terrible) a headache from visiting our new building site and listening to hammering for about 3 hours and a cold (or is it a reaction to the dust) I decided to go for a run on the treadmill.
I only ran 10.98km but it was increadibly boring, with what seemed like 100s of TV channels there wasn’t a single program on that was interesting.

I’m almost too jelly-like to report. With what is left of my cognitive abilities, I am reminded of The Onion’s calm reporting of the first Apollo moon landing.
For those that haven’t read this celebrated study in objectivity, here it is …

I feel exactly like that. Replace “man lands on moon” with “Paul ran 15Km” and the report is otherwise word perfect.
The Onion article, by the way, is from the book Our Dumb Century which is highly recommended. It is the perfect toilet tome. Add it to your loo’s library. It will look very dapper alongside the … washbasin. Put it next to the Calvin and Hobbes, maybe among Graham Rye’s The James Bond Girls and Steven Fry’s Paperweight and retire to some worthy diversion.
Statistics …
positivometer : 8
Km since last blog : 15, yes thats fifteen
Total Km : 108
I love my watch but it was hopeless by the way: can’t read the stopwatch in the dark. Fortunately though, it was possible to time my run by careful observation of the trees’ reacting to the change of season.

Paul, Joe L and I ran tonight and we finally broke the 10K barrier. In fact 15K was run in the (not so stellar) time of 1hr 54 mins 48 secs But hey the only way is up from here. So I guess we’re all tried now but very happy.

Another 10K with Ed. A somewhat respectable time (for me at least) 54:02:92. I was hoping to run 15K today but ran out of ATP (Adenosine tri-phosphate) and could only make it a 10K again.
So I think I’m going to work up to 15K starting Monday. The plan is run 10K take a rest for a say 5 mins and then run 5K more. I’m going to give that a try at least.
