McRichie Reservoir

26 09 2006

Set out at about 9am and ran north from Belmond Green with no plan but to run until I dropped.  After running for about 7km along the roads with no one else about I came to an area of sweety people which were either coming or heading to a park.  The park turned out to be the McRichie Reservoir.  There is a running track around the whole reserve which is a wood platform built above the ground and is about 10km long.  A very nice cool run.

Funny that I can’t find any pictures of the reserve but I think Google Map satelite is correct: http://maps.google.com/maphp?hl=en&q=&ie=UTF8&t=k&om=1&z=15&ll=1.346002,103.824148&spn=0.031791,0.039911

Heading out from McRichie Reserve I ran aimlessly and began to get sore shins bt pushed until I had reached my 20.09km target.  Before hopping in a Taxi home again.

No gain only pain since Sat.

20 09 2006

I suffed up my leg on Sat by not streching first and then running. While its getting better slowly I still can’t run more than about 3 steps. Does anyone have any tips for a more speedy recovery ? I’m going to get some medicated patches called “shipu” tonight. The cool ones are supposed to be better for sport injuries, it seems.

I went and bought a Camelbak Bike 2.0 a little while ago becuase I was feeling quite ill after the longer runs.  Unfortunately this pretty much guarenteed that I wont do a long run for ages so I have no idea if it is good or not.

5k – 24 min

9 09 2006

last night just to get an idea of speed for 5k.. i pretty much ran flat out and finished at 24 min. took a rest for 3 or 4 min then headed out for another 10k. 24.min. 30.min. 33.min total time (not counting the break) 87 min for 15k. gonna try another 20k run this week & hope it goes better than the last one!

borrowed a book from Mr Lee Jewett titled ‘The Triathletes Training Bible’ thats pretty interesting. Im primarily looking at the running section that has some good info on biomechanics & how to run ‘effeciently’ wich is needed for long distance.
