Joe Leavey ! Ladies and Gentlemen, the man himself has finally succumbed to the pressure and signed up.
In other less spectacular news, I ran round the Palace on friday, felt like it was a fast one but only came in at 30 mins for the 5Km. Hmmm, not great. Our two sprinters Andy and Ed would be embarrassed !

On the back of recovering from my first run outdoors I decided to do it again (this time with Sun Tan lotion on). I did the same route as the first (for no good reason). I clocked 20.79km but collapsed in Little India feeling like I was going to die. I had to lie and wait till I recovered for about 30 minutes then I crawled into a taxi and went home and slept for a few hours.
I suspect that the lack of fluid intake migt have had something to do with it so I resolved to investigate camelbak packs with bladders.

Welcome aboard Leavey-san…we are looking forward to seeing you zip around palace!!
Andy & I ran a steady, unspectacular 15 k run last night: lap 1 = 30min, lap 2 = 30 min, lap 3 = 32, for total of 92 min. It was hot & humid, and started raining during the third lap, so we were quite proud to make the entire 15k.

ran 10k with Andy on friday evening… first lap around the palace was a beauty at 23 min, but the second was considerably slower at 34 min (im not convinced this was correct time). either way my goal is a 15k run by the end of this week to just raise the bar a bit…

I mean 10Km. Desperate attempts to keep the running joke ( ha ! ) going with the post titles. I think I’ll give that up.
Ran 10Km yesterday. First time ever. Another hot day in Tokyo, and I ran alone. Joe off on holiday. Managed the 10Km in 68 minutes, which I understand is a terrific time for the environmental conditions, by someone with bad shoes and suffering post-traumatic stress from being a passenger in a millenium-falcon prototype.
You’ll appreciate that like yoda ( “do, or do not, there is no try” ) I gained some deep philosophical insights during this run. It’s a mental thing.
But mainly I realised what a darn long way 10Km is.
