On magazines

30 06 2006

Rather sheepishly picked up a running magazine in the Singapore newsagent. Felt a slight frisson of excitement arriving at the till with it, to be honest. Like I was now a real runner. Someone so into the whole thing that I actually pay to read about other people running when not actually running myself.

Madness of course, but now I’ve actually read a couple of the articles. One of which was how a fit 24 year old with a bedside table full of running trophies went out for a run, and err, died from heatstroke.  ( Sorry for giving away the ending to those about to sit down to an evening’s relaxation with the August 2006 edition of Runner’s World ). The other article was about an unfit lazy 40 year old procrastinator who decides to run the NY marathon and then doesnt do any training …

A Magazine for runners, presumably, when they are not actually running.

Now we’re talking. I might subscribe.

Hey got any gear ?

I forgot my running gear today and so sadly the promised update is not to be. I’m hoping to run over the weekend instead.

Best Time Yet.

28 06 2006

I biked to work this morning in about 25 mins. Thats my best time yet,  but I think that had more to do with the empty streets (I’m on early shift this week) than my level of fitness. So I think I better do one run around the palce tomorrow night. It took me something like 30 mins to do one circuit during the FIT Charity run. Watch this space for an update tomorrow !

Well, being an absolute amature at Marathons … hold on … being an absolute amature at “running”! … I had to come up with a training program so that I could at least “try” and do this without dying or making a complete fool of myself. So, where else than NY to get some tips … So I am going to follow the training plan developed over the years by the NY Runners Club…

All that is nice and dandy … Let’s hope I can keep up and be disciplined about it!
